Even though a surprise fall was announced today and the unemployment rate fell unexpectedly in January to 9.7, Americans are still saying they took our jobs! the Labor Department revised its previous estimates for the number of jobs that have been lost over the past 25 months. What they found wasn't pretty.

What a day, every stock is down hard today except for the inverse funds and ETFs.  Fear is driving the equity markets down today, fear of sovereign debt problems in Europe have traders running for the exits.

Toyota Motor (NYSE:TM) shares are down 6.8% today on all the recall news and not all of the Toyota/Lexus models have made the "recall list" yet the complaints keep coming in. Even Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Steve Wozniak believes the Prius has an acceleration problem and faulty break complaints are the latest buzz.

Diageo plc (ADR) (NYSE:DEO) and Brown-Forman Corporation (NYSE:BF.B) shares traded flat for the day despite a report that U.S. liquor sales fell to 32.9% in 2009 from 33.1% in 2008.
Americans are opting for the cheaper booze or lower shelf brands and drinking at home versus hitting the bars.  2010 could also be the year of the The House Party.

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (NASDAQ:SIRI) is back, today shares hit a new 52-week high of 95 cents as the company is closing in on the $1 mark.
In the last month alone Sirius shares have stagged a comeback to the tune of up 56%.  Volume is hot again today for SIRI shares, its already at 72 million, about 3x the daily average.

Shares of Brazilian Nuclear and Hydroelectric Power provider Centrais Electricas Brasileiras (EBR) got Hammered on Monday, losing -5.66 or 26%.

Something doesn't make sense here. The company recently announced news that they will be paying out $5.65 billion in overdue dividends dating back to the 1970s.

The company said it will make the payments in four annual installments in June of 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

So why did shares fall 26% today?

Investors are bailing out of Euros, apparently its not going to become the world's new reserve currency. The Euro is down 8.1% since Nov. 25th, its fastest slide in 10 months amid concern that cash-strapped countries like Greece won’t pay their debts.
Bottom line, short the Euro, go long the Dollar -- do so with the ProShares UltraShort Euro ETF (NYSE:EUO) and PowerShares DB US Dollar Index Bullish (NYSE:UUP).

Borders Group, Inc. (NYSE:BGP) shares fell 22% to under a dollar this week and closed Friday at just 86 Cents.  Borders shares lost another penny after-hours to 85 Cents, that makes a 6 month loss of 78%.
Is Borders now just another Penny stock awaiting certain Bankruptcy death or is this a diamond in the rough?  Borders Group needs help ASAP.

Today Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) shares touched a new all-time high of $63.85 which works out to a market cap now worth $3.44 billion. 
At the opposite end of the spectrum Blockbuster Inc. (NYSE:BBI) shares have lost 73% of their value and closed the day at 40 Cents a share.  Blockbuster's market cap is now only $77.65 million, not even enough to get Cobra Commander excited.

Gilead Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:GILD) shares are up 6% in after hours trading on Tuesday, as the company reported huge revenue growth last quarter.

To give you an idea of just how far they blew out estimates, Total revenues for the quarter were $2.03 billion, up 42% from $1.43 billion in the comparable quarter last year. Analysts projected that the company would report revenue of $1.92 billion.

After their last earnings call, back in October, I wrote an article titled "Why are Gilead Sciences (NASDAQ:GILD) shares falling?"

PCWorld.com is right on the money regarding the issues with the new iPad from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), such as there's no multitasking in the OS at all, and not even multiple active web pages in Safari. You can't listen to Pandora while you surf the Web, or switch back and forth between Facebook at Twitter, or write a document in Pages while talking on a VOIP call.  Adobe Flash missing is a huge loss, no watching Hulu.com?  No Camera and most of all, no iPants.
Docks with keyboards are one thing, but Apple missed out on the perfect opportunity to introduce iFashion with the iPants - pants with pockets big enough for your iPad.
